The Well has turned 20 and you’re part of the story

Celebrating 20 years of The Well Wolverhampton

Twenty years ago, it all began with a little pink box, a heart for the people of Wolverhampton and a simple step of faith.

The vision was to provide food for people in desperate need—and to show Jesus’ love in a practical and meaningful way.

That small beginning grew into something truly special. Today, we are delighted to celebrate that The Well has turned 20!

What an adventure it has been

As we look back over the past two decades, we can see God’s faithfulness woven through every part of our story.

There have been challenges, lessons and moments when we simply had to step out in faith. But there have also been countless moments of joy: shelves filled through unexpected generosity, volunteers arriving just when they were needed and people finding kindness and hope during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

We have so much to be thankful for.

Most of all, we are thankful for the wonderful community that has grown around The Well.

Every volunteer who has given their time, every church and business that has supported us, every partner who has stood alongside us and every person who has donated, prayed or encouraged us has helped make this work possible.

The Well’s story is your story too. We simply could not have done it without you.

Our mission remains the same

Although The Well has grown and changed over the years, our mission has always remained clear: to meet practical needs in our city.

The Well is a Christian charity committed to showing Jesus’ heart of love by supporting people experiencing poverty across Wolverhampton.

We provide food parcels and essential items to individuals and families facing desperate situations. We want every person who comes to us to be met with kindness, compassion and dignity and to know that they do not have to face their difficult circumstances alone.

With the support of our community, we can continue to be there when people need us most.

You can help us to help them.

Twenty ways to make a difference

Our 20th anniversary is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate everything that has happened, but it is also a chance to look ahead with hope.

Over the coming year, we’ll be sharing 20 ways to make a difference.

There will be opportunities for individuals, families, churches, schools, businesses and community groups to stand alongside The Well and help people across our city.

Some will be simple actions that only take a few minutes. Others will offer opportunities to bring people together. Every action, no matter how small it may seem, can become part of something much bigger.

And the first opportunity is just around the corner.

Share what you have this Harvest

As summer begins to fade and the temperature starts to fall, gardens and allotments often overflow with fresh produce.

If you have more than you can use, why not share it with someone who needs it?

This September, our Harvest campaign will bring together people from across Wolverhampton to help stock our shelves and provide vital food and essentials for individuals and families in need.

Whether you’re a church planning your September calendar, a teacher looking for a meaningful activity for your pupils, a business searching for a way to give back or an individual who simply wants to help, there will be a way for you to take part.

Harvest is a beautiful opportunity to celebrate what we have, share generously with others and make a practical difference in our city.

Our Harvest Festival 2026 campaign is now live, with everything you need to organise a collection at your church, school, workplace or community group.

Thank you for being part of the journey

As we celebrate 20 years of The Well, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has been part of the journey.

Your kindness, generosity, prayers, time and encouragement have carried this work forward. Together, we have achieved far more than we ever could alone.

We hope you’ll celebrate with us as we remember how the journey began, give thanks for all that God has done and discover 20 new ways to make a difference.

Thank you for being part of our first 20 years.

The next chapter has begun and we would love you to be part of it.
